Master’s Project - Children’s Book with original story and illustrations

During my MA Program I had to create a fully custom project from start to finish. Since illustration has always been a personal passion, I chose to create a picture book featuring an original story and custom illustrations.

“The case of the missing Market Street” is a fictional story based on real historical events. The story revolves around Sofia’s Market Street, which existed until the city was redesigned after the bombings of World War II. Following the war, the government implemented a new urban plan that led to the removal of several key streets and buildings from the period of the Tsardom (Kingdom) of Bulgaria.

The exhibition.

For the graduation of the MA class, the University of Sunderland organized an exhibition in Sunderland, UK, showcasing the final projects of all MA students.

The Sofianer

After graduating, I participated in the contest “The Sofianer,” where my work was selected for the exhibition held in the Crystal Garden in Sofia. I contributed an illustration of Market Street—a long-lost street from Sofia’s past. The theme of the exhibition was “What’s priceless about Sofia?” and my answer was its rich history. Through my illustration, I aimed to remind viewers of the city's forgotten stories and the value of remembering them.

Bulgarian Biennale of Illustration

In November 2024, three illustrations from my picture book were selected to take part in the Bulgarian Biennale of Illustration. The exhibition was hosted in the Triangular Tower of Serdica, Sofia, and remained open to the public until the end of January 2025.
